I love spring sessions in Salida! It rained so much this year and the landscape looked greener than I’ve ever seen it before. This sweet family recently moved to town and I had fun introducing them to this local property.

Autumn Afternoon Adventure in Buena Vista, Colorado

This couple with their three dogs lucked out with gorgeous weather for their afternoon adventure session in Buena Vista, Colorado. We first met at the trailhead for one of their favorite hikes. After we hiked a short distance, we returned to our cars and drove to Cottonwood Lake. As if by magic, we caught the last of the day’s rays of sunshine as clouds rolled into the mountains. It was beautiful! Their dogs had lots of personality and were fun to wrangle, too. It was so nice meeting and working with this local couple!

Seacoast Beach Family Adventure in Kittery, Maine

I loved capturing photos with this family in the Seacoast this fall. The overcast skies and stunning scenery meant I could point my camera in any direction and get beautiful light and tones. I love the rocks, the trees, and historic fort features, which was especially appealing for the kids to explore. It was fun seeing them run and play.

Mount Molly Family Adventure Session in New Durham, New Hampshire

My favorite thing is to capture families in places that mean something special to them. These returning clients embraced this concept and picked Mount Molly in New Durham, New Hampshire for their family adventure this fall. Becky hiked this mountain while pregnant and it was the first hike they did as a family after their little one was born. It has beautiful views of pristine Merrymeeting Lake.

Mountain Valley Senior Portraits and Family Adventure in Salida, Colorado

While this family had been to Colorado many times, this was their first visit to Salida. I gave them a few different options for locations because the scenery around here is so varied and spectacular. I’d been wanting to shoot at this property and was so glad when they choose this location in the valley. We explored the forest edges, fields, and creek area to find different backdrops. This sweet high school senior was the star of the shoot, but her family (and new puppy!) also came along for the adventure.

Mountain Morning at the Lake Family Adventure in Salida, Colorado

This family session was a dream come true! I was so excited when my friend, Carly, requested a photo session during her family’s summer vacation in Colorado. Carly and I went through a 10-month-long Americorps program together in New Hampshire over a decade ago. We picked a spot at a lake high in the mountains not far from Salida. We snapped a few photos by the lake then walked a nearby trail to find more beautiful scenery. Plus, their son such a great little adventurer!

Mount Princeton Extended Family Session in Buena Vista, Colorado

This summer Janet and Carl celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort and hired me to capture photos with their adult children and their families. They have a family cabin in the area and knew they wanted to stay near Mount Princeton and the Chalk Cliffs. We picked a spot in the forest nearby to capture most of the photos and then snapped a few more at Mount Princeton Resort before they enjoyed a celebratory dinner. Everyone was so fun and easy going. I won’t forget this sweet shoot anytime soon!

Newborn Family Lifestyle and Fun by the River Adventure Session in Salida, Colorado

This early winter indoor/outdoor session capturing a family with a newborn and little boy was so fun. I’m grateful I got to connect with Jessie and Josh who are the local business owners of Ovierre Industries. Since December weather is a little chilly for capturing a newborn’s sweet features, we split our session between their family home and an outdoor area along the river in Salida. Even though we didn’t have snow in town in December, I always find our dried grasses pretty and the winter light magical.

Morning in the Woods Family Adventure Session in New Durham, New Hampshire

I met Rebecca and her family early one August morning at a forest close to where I used to live in New Hampshire. My favorite part was how the sunlight streamed through the trees from a neighboring field. I had driven by this park many times when I lived in the area but never hiked the trails.

Summer Sunset by the River Family Adventure Session in Salida, Colorado

I love walking along the river and was grateful for the chance to capture Avery’s family memories in such a beautiful place. We met at part of the Salida River Walk one summer evening and let the kids play along the water’s edge and under the canopy of the beautiful cottonwoods and willows while I captured candids and portraits.

Outdoor Family Photography: A Couple of Dog Lovers - Golden, Colorado

The moody fog and yellow leaves certainly made up for the lack of golden sun at my first photoshoot in Golden, Colorado. We met up by the Clear Creek river trail where they often go to grab coffee and go for walks with their dog.
