Jess reached out last summer to share the news that she was expecting her first child with the hope that she might schedule a winter maternity session. It worked out perfectly to fit in the midst of my trip to visit family for the holiday season. We hiked through College Woods in Durham and the light was so gorgeous. This was a fun half-day adventure session with the goal to capture Kristina’s love for our region along with her pup, Lucy. Lucy is a rescue from Leadville, Colorado and has been Kristina’s best friend and hiking companion ever since.
We met before sunrise at a trailhead and hiked to an aspen grove and meadow in the mountains. Can you tell Kristina and Lucy have a special bond? I think I have a new found love for Chihuahuas too. These photos melt my heart!

These returning clients embraced this concept and picked Mount Molly in New Durham, New Hampshire for their family adventure this fall. Becky hiked this mountain while pregnant and it was the first hike they did as a family after their little one was born. It has beautiful views of pristine Merrymeeting Lake.

This family session was a dream come true! I was so excited when my friend, Carly, requested a photo session during her family’s summer vacation in Colorado. Carly and I went through a 10-month-long Americorps program together in New Hampshire over a decade ago. We picked a spot at a lake high in the mountains not far from Salida. We snapped a few photos by the lake then walked a nearby trail to find more beautiful scenery. Plus, their son such a great little adventurer!

We met at the trailhead at 5 a.m. and began our hike in the dusk. Once we made it to the aspen groves, first light started piercing into the forest. We had a blast playing in the golden light. Clouds rolled in just as we ventured into an open meadow, but it provided a perfectly soft filter for the light. What a dream!

From the river to the hills, this family had a fun fall adventure session in Salida, Colorado. We started out exploring along the Arkansas River near downtown. We let the little ones run, jump, climb, and play as they do best. After the kids got their fill by the water we took a short drive across the river to a hill overlooking Salida and the surrounding peaks.
