Forest & Sea Family Adventure Session at Wells Reserve in Wells, Maine

A mom and dad sitting by the shore hugging their two blonde boys from behind and laughing.

They fell in love in Maine, moved away, had kids, and returned for family photos this summer. What a special session with my friends and their young boys. Camille and Jeremy first met as members of the Maine Conservation Corps building trails in beautiful parts of Maine. Our paths crossed when we all lived in New Hampshire together. Camille was always a big supporter of my photography. Her maternity session on the Maine coast was one of my first paid shoots! We took those photos right before they moved to the Adirondacks, but we’ve always stayed in touch. After the birth of their first child, I went to visit them in New York and captured candids on their baby’s first hike. Little did I know that hike would plant the seed for my future family adventure sessions. I was so excited when the timing worked out for us both to travel back to Maine this summer.

We met in the parking area at the Wells Reserve at Laudholm Farm in Wells, Maine. After quickly catching up and paying the admission fee, we set off on the trails aiming to end our session on the beach. I loved getting to capture their family in a variety of backgrounds from the fern-filled woods to the rocky shore. The natural shoreline here is breathtaking and so incredibly rare in the southern part of my home state. After running and playing for a while, we wrapped up the photo-taking and walked back to the parking area. The icing on the cake after the session included going for ice cream at Big Daddy’s, which just happened to be my favorite local ice cream spot growing up. Thank you to my wonderful friends for letting me capture these memories and for sharing this nostalgic summer evening on the Maine coast!
