After the arctic air forced us to postpone once, we lucked out with a balmy and sunny afternoon. Chasing the little one as she ran through the sand was a blast! The dramatic shadows and light made for some special photos and memories.

It was so nice meeting and working with this local couple!

Read MoreWhile this family had been to Colorado many times, this was their first visit to Salida. I gave them a few different options for locations because the scenery around here is so varied and spectacular. I’d been wanting to shoot at this property and was so glad when they choose this location in the valley. We explored the forest edges, fields, and creek area to find different backdrops. This sweet high school senior was the star of the shoot, but her family (and new puppy!) also came along for the adventure.

We snapped a few photos by the lake then walked a nearby trail to find more beautiful scenery. Plus, their son such a great little adventurer!

We had a blast playing in the golden light. Clouds rolled in just as we ventured into an open meadow, but it provided a perfectly soft filter for the light. What a dream!
