Autumn Camping Adventure Session in Twin Lakes, Colorado
Latasha and Jason met me in Twin Lakes on an early autumn afternoon. The leaves were just starting to turn. Thankfully, there were a few bright yellow groves in Twin Lakes already. I first met this delightful couple over two years ago for an engagement session in Colorado Springs. I loved working with them and invited them up to model for an adventure session in my area. They were game to bring their camping gear and set up a site as well as take some fun portraits wandering through the aspen groves. One of my favorite moments was having them set up their hammock and capture some photos of their family cuddled up together. Suddenly, their dog Leelo spotted a squirrel and darted out of the hammock. For little dog, it was a big jump to the ground. It was so surprising and funny.
It was mostly cloudy when the session began, but I knew the sun would make an appearance as it almost always does in Colorado. Twin Lakes is a great location to see all kinds of weather. High elevation, beautiful water, epic peaks, and lots of trails and dispersed camping sites to explore. Fall colors arrive earlier than lower elevation areas and it’s close to Leadville and Buena Vista. In the summer, you can take Independence Pass to make day trip to see Aspen.
Big Adventure sessions are a great way to relax with your photographer and capture a wider variety of images with just a little longer time frame (2-4 hours). They’re great for sunrises or sunsets, hikes to alpine lakes or meadows, or for capturing your favorite activities, like camping. Consider having me come to your campsite for part of the session or ending your session at a campsite with a campfire and snacks. There’s so many possibilities. Simply fill out my contact form and select “Big Adventure” to start planning your own.
As sunset drew nearer, Latasha and Jason changed into their wedding attire. They had asked me before the session if we could capture photos to commemorate their first wedding anniversary, which took place earlier in the summer. It was the perfect opportunity to capture photos of them looking their best with mountains as a backdrop. They decided to read each other their vows, so it was also a vow renewal. It was so sweet to see their dog, Leelo looking on. The clouds made for a dynamic and beautiful sunset.
This is not typical for an adventure session, so if you’re interested in a vow renewal or elopement, please check out my wedding pricing page and contact me for a custom quote. I take more photos and navigate vow renewals or elopements with great care and attention to detail every step of the way, so they are priced accordingly.
