What a fun session with Chelsea and her almost 2-year-old daughter at Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, especially in January. After the arctic air forced us to postpone once, we lucked out with a balmy and sunny afternoon. Chasing the little one as she ran through the sand was a blast! The dramatic shadows and light made for some special photos and memories.

Since December weather is a little chilly for capturing a newborn’s sweet features, we split our session between their family home and an outdoor area along the river in Salida. Even though we didn’t have snow in town in December, I always find our dried grasses pretty and the winter light magical.
