Fun Mountain Adventure Session in Nathrop and Salida, Colorado

A bearded man in a baseball hat stands with an arm around a woman with a beanie and a striped sweater. They are facing away from the camera and looking up into the mountains. Snowy and rocky mountains and pine trees are behind them.

This wintry adventure session gave me the opportunity to reconnect with my friends from New Hampshire, Amanda and Matt, who now live in Maine. While planning a trip to Colorado to see their favorite band, Twiddle, they reached out to book an adventure session to make their visit even more memorable. They brought along Matt's brother, Jake, who lives in Colorado, and Jake’s dog joined in for the fun, too.

It was wonderful to catch up with Matt and Amanda after so many years. They were excited to explore Salida, and I was thrilled to be their guide and photographer for the afternoon. Our adventure began in Nathrop at the base of the Collegiate Peaks. We started our hike through the pine forests and it didn’t take long to start to see views of the snowy mountains. Amanda, Matt and Jake were all hilarious and made for some sweet photos while playing around like kids in the woods.

One of the unexpected highlights was capturing the sibling bond between Matt and Jake. Their antics and shared jokes added a memorable dynamic to the shoot. We all had a blast. The sibling photos turned out to be some of my favorites.

We made our way to the foothills surrounding Salida where sweeping views of the surrounding peaks provide a great place to explore just before sunset. The golden light makes it seem so much warmer, too. The Arkansas River Valley is amazing with its variety!

Thank you so much to Amanda and Matt for coming to visit, supporting my business, and for being awesome, good people.
