My favorite thing is to capture families in places that mean something special to them. These returning clients embraced this concept and picked Mount Molly in New Durham, New Hampshire for their family adventure this fall. Becky hiked this mountain while pregnant and it was the first hike they did as a family after their little one was born. It has beautiful views of pristine Merrymeeting Lake.
Read MoreWhile this family had been to Colorado many times, this was their first visit to Salida. I gave them a few different options for locations because the scenery around here is so varied and spectacular. I’d been wanting to shoot at this property and was so glad when they choose this location in the valley. We explored the forest edges, fields, and creek area to find different backdrops. This sweet high school senior was the star of the shoot, but her family (and new puppy!) also came along for the adventure.
Read MoreThis family session was a dream come true! I was so excited when my friend, Carly, requested a photo session during her family’s summer vacation in Colorado. Carly and I went through a 10-month-long Americorps program together in New Hampshire over a decade ago. We picked a spot at a lake high in the mountains not far from Salida. We snapped a few photos by the lake then walked a nearby trail to find more beautiful scenery. Plus, their son such a great little adventurer!
Read MoreThis summer Janet and Carl celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort and hired me to capture photos with their adult children and their families. They have a family cabin in the area and knew they wanted to stay near Mount Princeton and the Chalk Cliffs. We picked a spot in the forest nearby to capture most of the photos and then snapped a few more at Mount Princeton Resort before they enjoyed a celebratory dinner. Everyone was so fun and easy going. I won’t forget this sweet shoot anytime soon!
Read MoreDana and Michael traveled all the way from the East Coast to Colorado with their three adorable small dogs for a vacation this summer. I’m so glad they contacted me about doing an adventure session with their dogs. Now they have photos of their love and family in one of their favorite places! I hope they look back and enjoy these for years.
Read MoreWe met at the trailhead at 5 a.m. and began our hike in the dusk. Once we made it to the aspen groves, first light started piercing into the forest. We had a blast playing in the golden light. Clouds rolled in just as we ventured into an open meadow, but it provided a perfectly soft filter for the light. What a dream!
Read MoreKirsten and Mike are a local Salida couple who hiked Mount Ouray for their first date two years ago. We decided to explore the Arkansas Hills in Salida for their engagement session, which provided gorgeous views of town, Mount Ouray, and the Collegiate Peaks. Months ago, I found a ridge line that I knew would be perfect for a sunset mountain silhouette. I’m so glad Kirsten and Mike trusted me and we had a blast!
Read MoreThis early winter indoor/outdoor session capturing a family with a newborn and little boy was so fun. I’m grateful I got to connect with Jessie and Josh who are the local business owners of Ovierre Industries. Since December weather is a little chilly for capturing a newborn’s sweet features, we split our session between their family home and an outdoor area along the river in Salida. Even though we didn’t have snow in town in December, I always find our dried grasses pretty and the winter light magical.
Read MoreLillian chose to have her senior portraits along the Columbia River Gorge and wanted a natural place to explore. We lucked out with beautiful light and an epic sunset. Lillian had such great energy and we had so much fun creating these portraits together. I’m glad she was game for climbing on rocks and walking barefoot. These photos still feel like a dream to me!
Read MoreAfter the Thanksgiving holiday, I captured this extended family in their creekside backyard surrounded by the National Forest in Salida, Colorado. We made sure to capture them next to the historic barn on the property and explore down to the creek, too. It just goes to show you don’t have to go on a hike for an outdoor family adventure. We found so many different backdrops for photos from rustic fences to their beautiful aspens.
Read MoreOn a humid, overcast morning with a tropical storm looming, I met Emma and her family at a favorite conservation property in southern New Hampshire. Thankfully the rain held off until after our session and we were able to hike a good amount on this adventure. We saw monarch caterpillars and pretty wildflowers everywhere!
Read MoreAlthough there’s no blue ocean in sight, I loved getting to capture the foggy Maine shore. We rescheduled this shoot due to rain and got fog instead. It ended up working in our favor because it meant no one was at the beach on a Saturday evening in August. Plus, the lighting and the fog was gorgeous!
Read MoreI met Rebecca and her family early one August morning at a forest close to where I used to live in New Hampshire. My favorite part was how the sunlight streamed through the trees from a neighboring field. I had driven by this park many times when I lived in the area but never hiked the trails.
Read MoreThey fell in love in Maine, moved away, had kids, and returned for family photos this summer. What a special session with my friends and their young boys. I was so excited when the timing worked out for us both to travel back to Maine this summer.
Read MoreFrom the river to the hills, this family had a fun fall adventure session in Salida, Colorado. We started out exploring along the Arkansas River near downtown. We let the little ones run, jump, climb, and play as they do best. After the kids got their fill by the water we took a short drive across the river to a hill overlooking Salida and the surrounding peaks.

We met at part of the Salida River Walk one summer evening and let the kids play along the water’s edge and under the canopy of the beautiful cottonwoods and willows while I captured candids and portraits.
Read MoreDew clung to the August wildflowers and fog hung over the Arkansas River Valley when I met Kendal’s family in the early morning light. We explored parts of San Isabel National Forest at the base of the Collegiate Peaks between Buena Vista and Salida, Colorado. Needless to say, it was a stunning morning.
