Natural Creekside Backyard Family Adventure Session in Salida, Colorado

After the Thanksgiving holiday, I captured this extended family in their creekside backyard surrounded by National Forest in Salida, Colorado. We made sure to capture them next to the historic barn on the property and explore down to the creek, too. It just goes to show you don’t have to go on a hike for an outdoor family adventure. We found so many different backdrops for photos from rustic fences to their beautiful aspens.

I don’t give specific suggestions for what to wear to a shoot except to choose an outfit that make you feel like yourself. However, if anyone needs a masterclass on coordinating outfits, look no further than this family. As I was taking the pictures, I was blown away by how well this neutral + denim combination worked with the late November tones.

I’m so grateful to this fun-loving and kind-hearted family for hiring me to capture their extended family photos. I always love seeing a family laugh together. It was a blast incorporating their three dogs in the shoot, too. When they busted out the matching Carhartt jackets for the dogs I almost lost it because they’re so adorable.
