Winter Mountain Engagement Session in Salida, Colorado

I’m so glad this couple booked their winter engagement session in Salida, Colorado. Jackie and Andrew are both from Michigan and drove all the way to Colorado for the second year in a row for a winter vacation. They planned to relax at Mt Princeton Hot Springs for the last bit of their trip and decided to book a half-day adventure for their engagement session in Nathrop/Salida. We came up with a bunch of awesome locations to visit before sunset, which is one of the many advantages of a longer session!

We started in the mountains near Mt Princeton where we could capture gorgeous afternoon light in the tall pine trees. It worked in our favor that the snow wasn’t too deep and we even hiked a little bit of trail to get to more epic views of rocky mountains. After that, we drove around the valley to more locations with sweeping views, cacti, and scrubby pines. We ended in the foothills overlooking Salida and the surrounding peaks. I had a blast running around in the wind with these two. When the sun dipped behind the mountains, we got a few “blue hour” photos with Jackie and Andrew in the headlights of their car, which brought them to Colorado on two road trips.
