Married: Louise + Jake - Fox Point, Newington, New Hampshire

Louise and Jake’s September wedding in Newington, New Hampshire was filled with love, nature, handmade touches, and gorgeous sunlight. I had the pleasure of meeting Louise and Jake over video the winter before their wedding. They had found me through a blog post from a past wedding at the same location. They shared how their life in New Hampshire is filled with a love of hiking, dogs, and nature. As the wedding got closer, we kept in touch about their plan and wishes for the day.

September came up quick and just before the wedding strong winds and rain threatened the wedding flowers! Louise put in so much effort growing her own flowers for the wedding as well as finding the most unique and beautiful contributions from Etsy vendors and friends/family. Louise and helpers stayed up late harvesting the beautiful blooms used for her flower crown, bouquet, table settings, and more. It was still windy the morning of the wedding, but the winds calmed just in time for a beautiful outdoor ceremony and reception.

It was important for Louise and Jake to have a first look and choose a spot down the road from the ceremony where we’d have the privacy of some trees. It was amazing to finally meet them and Louise gave me a big hug!

They held their ceremony beneath a mighty oak. Louise’s father built the arch that they walked under and surprised her with a carving with these touching words: “As I go through the mountains, my love goes with me." My favorite part was when they both read their own haikus as part of their vows (and didn’t plan it!).

The rest of the day was a blur of so many moments from sweet to funny. The couple choreographed their first dance and performed it spectacularly. At sunset, we walked out to a view of Great Bay and I captured golden hour portraits of the newlyweds. Instead of snapping photos constantly, I tried to give them a moment of peace to just watch the sunset behind the distant pines. Once we returned to the reception, the guests welcomed them back with so much more dancing and fun. They also had a sparkler send off towards the end of the night. I love how you can see their giddiness beam through those photos.

Louise and Jake, I’m wishing you a lifetime of happiness and unconditional love. Thank you for having me capture this magical day.
