Monarch Pass Sunset Adventure Session in Salida, Colorado

A man and a woman wearing Melanzana fleeces relax on a log while looking off into the mountains during a golden sunset on Monarch Pass in Salida, Colorado

This session had the most incredible golden hour and sunset! We hiked around Monarch Pass near Salida, Colorado and got to take in views in all directions. I was a little surprised to find a ton of mosquitoes hanging out on the Continental Divide, but thankfully they weren’t too hungry. I also love getting to hike into spots so it gives me a chance to get to know my clients. Brittany and Brent got more and more comfortable as the session went on and the light just kept getting better, too.

The best part of this session was actually how Brittany and I found out we had met when we were both undergrads. It’s such a small world! Brent’s family lives in Salida, so they were excited to explore the mountains and capture engagement photos during their summer trip to Colorado. After Brittany first contacted me to set up her session, she mentioned that we both had a Maine connection. Her name sounded familiar and it didn’t take me long to realize we were both members of the All Maine Women senior honor society at the University of Maine. Brittany was a class behind me, so we were even in a photo together on her induction day into the group. It’s amazing that we ended up reconnecting 2,000 miles away and years later!
