Mini Photo Sessions / Outdoor Adventure / Colorado Family Photography
For the second time ever, I’m offering mini sessions in Salida, Colorado! These special pop-up sessions are geared toward anyone who loves nature and wants to include the full moon in their portraits.
Sessions take place around the full moon, but not on the day of the full moon due to the timing of moon rise/set. Sessions are geared towards individuals or families of all kinds. It would be a great fit for women’s empowerment, families, or just-for-fun pictures.

“Emily is an absolute joy! She photographed my family for our first professional photo session and she made it so easy. She is warm, funny, and captures beautiful photos. During our session, she encouraged us to run, play, snuggle, and be ourselves. She made us laugh with her Chewbacca noises (sorry if I’m giving away your secret weapon, Emily), which means no fake smiles from my kids! What I love most, though, is how beautiful and natural-looking our photo gallery is. We look like ourselves instead of looking re-touched; she used lighting and elements of nature to enhance the images. She set the bar high for our first family photo session and we can’t wait to book another session with her!”
FAQ’s
What about health and safety precautions?
I am vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19 and will wear a mask during sessions if you would prefer me to wear one. Masks are not required for clients. All sessions take place outdoors.
What should I expect?
A laid back or high energy session where you get to explore nature. I guarantee I will make you laugh by running around trying to capture the fun. I always direct clients into a few classic portraits and have fun prompts to encourage genuine smiles. Dogs especially love my Wookiee sounds (yes, you read that right).
How do I pay?
A signed contract and $100 retainer secures your booking and the remaining balance is due on the day of your session. You pay your retainer through my website shop (accepts all major credit cards).
Where will the mini sessions take place?
Mini sessions will take place at predetermined outdoor locations in the beautiful mountain town of Salida, Colorado. To minimize environmental impacts to our local natural areas, exact locations will be sent to session participants upon booking. All locations can be accessed within a 15 minute drive of downtown Salida.
What time of day are your sessions?
Mini sessions take place in the early morning after sunrise or in the evening shortly before sunset. I love soft, golden light and it is a signature of my photography style! These special sessions also take advantage of a near-full moon either rising or setting close to sunrise or sunset. It will be magical!
Who can I bring?
Session price includes up to 6 people, and up to 3 well-behaved dogs. Mini sessions are not designed for larger groups- contact me about coming up with an estimate and scheduling a separate session for extended families.
What should I/we wear?
There's no requirement for dressy outfits, make-up, or perfect poses, but if an outfit with flourish or your favorite lipstick will make you feel confident, go for it. I want you to feel like yourself. I send all clients my adventure session style guide after you book with more tips.
What should I bring?
Your love for the outdoors and the essentials to keep hydrated or to keep little ones happy. A snack and a change of (dry) socks I've found to be wise. Treats for doggos are great but make sure you can hide them in photos. Don't forget sun protection, but I ask clients not to wear sunglasses during the session.
How many photos will I receive and when should I expect them?
You'll receive all of the edited pictures (at least 15) in an online gallery. You'll have options for ordering prints, albums, and other products shipped directly to you, or you can download them at full or web resolution for safekeeping / printing and sharing on your own. I will provide your final gallery link within 3-4 weeks.
